Croton Petra leaves
this cold morning --
she stitches memories
with a golden thread

II.

scripts a story
on eucalypt trunk
a moth larvae --
in late afternoon
she sketches a landscape

  1. The verb choices – stitch and sketch – and entailed imagery, emotions, and memory make these two tanka evocative and emotionally powerful.

    Aru, Congratulations on starting your blog! The words -- “sketch” and “Eucalypt”-- you used in II are related to two prominent tanka journals, Sketchbook and Eucalypt. According to Chinese religious beliefs, this is a good sign. You should submit your tanka to these journals.
